Violencia y autoestima en gestantes de un distrito del Callao

Objetivo: Determinar la frecuencia de violencia y su relación con el nivel de autoestima en las gestantes. Materiales y métodos: Estudio descriptivo transversal. La población de estudio estuvo conformada por gestantes atendidas en el Centro de Salud del distrito de Mi Perú, en la Región Callao. Resultados: Participaron 210 gestantes con una media de 25,94 años (DE=5,94; Rango: 14 a 43), la mayoría entre los 20 y 30 años de edad. El 22,9% (n=48) fue víctima de violencia física alguna vez en la vida y un 2,9% (n=6) en el presente embarazo. La violencia psicológica ocurrida alguna vez en la vida se presentó en el 28,1% (n=59), mientras que en el presente embarazo se reportó en el 8,1% (n=17). Respecto a la agresión sexual, el 8,6% (n=18) reportaron la ocurrencia alguna vez en la vida y 0,5% (n=1) en el último embarazo. El 72,9% (n=153) presentaron autoestima elevada, el 25,7% (n=54) autoestima media y 1,4% (n=3) autoestima baja. No se encontró diferencias entre el nivel de autoestima y los antecedentes de violencia. Conclusiones: La violencia tanto física, psicológica y sexual es frecuente entre las mujeres y el embarazo no es un factor protector. La concurrencia de la violencia psicológica y física es frecuente, en ambos casos el victimario fue una expareja.References
